Each factory sealed bottle contains one pre-measured refill
formulated specifically for use in the cartridge type shown above.
Refill Method Overview: (Kit#: HL2040-2)
Simple instructions show where the existing factory fill hole is located.
This hole can be used to refill the cartridge easily. Only a screwdriver
and pliers are needed. Refilling time is approximately 5 minutes.
Note: Only a cartridge equipped with a reset gear can be refilled.
All regular replacement cartridges are equipped with reset gears.
The starter cartridge that comes with the printer is not equipped
with a reset gear. Therefore, we recommend that you have a regular
cartridge to refill first. Then, when the regular cartridge has been
exhausted (usually 3-4 refills), you can remove the reset gear from it
and install it on your starter cartridge. The reset gear is available for
customers who want to use their starter cartridges right away but it
does not come with any installation instructions. Without the benefit
of seeing how the gear is installed on the cartridge first, it could be
difficult getting it on right. That is why we recommend having a
cartridge with the gear already installed so you can see how it is
supposed to fit and use it as an example. (Gear in Accessories
below)
